Oddly, I do have some proficiency with ProTools once I'm in edit mode and can't wait to get cracking with it. I'm a certified dummy about how Mac sound output gets routed so I don't mind being talked to that way. Though it's possible I missed trying the right combination of engine and pref settings. I also tried switching between those two settings on my Mac audio output preferences. I should mention that I tried setting the playback engine set to ProTools Aggregate Device as well as Built-in Output. Hopefully these clues are meaningful to someone. Anyway when I try to access the Built-in Output via a track input it says " iMac Output (Stereo) - path n/a " and in white type, not yellow. When I tried to create a signal path in Setup -> I/O it appears in the Input and Output lists in italics (which I know is a bad sign) and I'm not sure how to assign the L and R in the column to the right. So far I was able to bring up my built-in mic through an Aux track and bounce it over to an Audio track input, but cannot do the same with the Built-in Output. Right now I just want to record off the Internet internally as well as my online chats via Skype and Zoom. I do not as of yet have a mixer or audio interface. Got a maxed out 21.5 inch iMac running Catalina 10.15.7. Hey all, total noob here, trying to figure out how to set up ProTools 2020.9.1 so it records off my computer.
